But Rodgers, who takes his team to Molineux on the back of a four-match losing away streak, thinks the 52-year-old will be able to drag the club away from trouble, saying: "Every team has a run of games. He (McCarthy) has done a brilliant job there and had periods like this before and always come out strong.
This really does show how far internet speculation can go. Coventry City have stated that they're not interested in a loan deal for Wolves' midfielder Michael Kightly.
The fact that no-one appears to have said that they actually were, appears to be irrelevant as it was initially muted on Vital Football as a possible good loan move for the 25-year-old who is desperate to find some game time somewhere.
We didn't suggest that Coventry were interested or that Kightly would welcome a move to the sky blues, we simply followed up on an article over on Vital Coventry after they stated that they would welcome a short term move for him.
We then followed it up by asking our Vital Wolves users whether we thought it would be a good move for him and it appears to have escalated from there.
But whilst the Coventry fans appeared to want him and Wolves fans were happy with a loan move to the Championship for Kites.
The Coventry Telegraph have stated that they have ruled out the possibility of making a loan move.
So that ends that little discussion point.
