Man of the Match v Sunderland - Van Persie

Throughout the 2011/12 season we're giving you the chance to choose your Arsenal Man of the Match.

Arsène Wenger's side faced Sunderlnd in the Premier League on Sunday. The game finished 2-1 and after the match we asked fans to vote for their star performer.
They voted in their thousands on Arsenal.com and selected Robin van Persie as their Man of the Match.

The striker received 71 per cent of the fans' votes in our poll.

Tomas Rosicky finished second with 8 per cent with Carl Jenkinson receiving 7 per cent of the vote

arsene Wenger has admitted that Carl Jenkinson needs to adjust his defensive game but believes the teenager has 'top qualities' and can succeed for Arsenal.

The 19-year-old is set to come in at right-back against Sunderland on Sunday with Bacary Sagna out for at least three months with the broken leg he suffered at Tottenham.

It is a big challenge for Jenkinson, who made his Arsenal debut in the final qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League against Udinese, coming on as a second-half substitute for the injured Johan Djourou.

Jenkinson has received some criticism for his performances since joining the Gunners from Charlton over the summer, having struggled particularly against Manchester United in the 8-2 defeat at Old Trafford.

Wenger, however, is confident he has all the attributes needed to bounce back and solve Arsenal's defensive crisis.

Remote Record
The Frenchman said: "What happened to him is that he had good and less good games, especially the Man United game. But he had a good game at Udinese four days before. He has top qualities.

"His fitness is outstanding, he's quick, he has good crosses, he is good going forward. He needs to adjust a little bit his defensive game. But we are working with him and he is improving."

With the eighth game of the Barclay's Premier League season coming up this weekend for Arsenal, there is an effervescent need for Arsenal to pull a victory out over Sunderland.

After a not-so-gracious loan exit by Nicklas Bendtner this past transfer window, Arsenal are in more need than ever to shut down the in-form striker and make a statement as to how serious of a challenge they can put up for the league.

To do that, Arsenal are going to need to need some key points of emphasis against this Black Cats side.

Gunners linked to Hulk
Porto striker's agent says several clubs are interested

Hulk's agent has declared that interest is growing in the Porto striker but warned potential suitors that he would cost a staggering €100million, following reports that Arsenal were preparing a January move.

Hulk has blossomed into one of the most formidable forwards in European football since joining Porto in 2008 and a number of clubs are believed to have been keeping tabs on his progress.

Porto moved to secure his long-term future over the summer by awarding him a new five-year contract, while there is also a release clause in place of €100million (£87m).

The Portuguese club have no intention of letting him go for anything less but, despite the massive price tag, Hulk's representative Teodoro Fonseca says there is still a lot of interest.

Speculation has suggested that Arsenal are plotting a bid of around £23million, which Fonseca insists would be instantly dismissed. sumber
