Saya ingin menjadi legenda Anfield,"

(sun/zul) sumber

England should be proud of Everton FC, says Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas

David Moyes

CHELSEA manager Andre Villas-Boas believes the whole of England should be proud of the way Everton FC continually defy the odds.

David Moyes’s men journey to Stamford Bridge tomorrow aiming to extend an unbeaten Premier League run at the venue that stretches back to April 2006.

While a newcomer to English football in the summer, Villas-Boas has already noted how a lack of fresh investment has forced Moyes to work within tight financial restraints.

“In football and paper things look different but surprises happen, it’s why I don’t believe in having a favourites role in every game we play because the unpredictable can happen,” said Villas-Boas.

“Everton were on a very good run in my opinion, they lost against Liverpool but had they won they would be up challenging for the top with one game in hand.

“So they are in a good situation and once again proving that David Moyes’s work is something fantastic”.

Kenwright has been searching for investment at Goodison Park for several years, and has acknowledged a missed opportunity when the mega rich sheikhs of Abu Dhabi headed to Manchester City.

The scale of the financial pressures Everton are under are laid bare with each set of accounts. But despite recent unrest from fans, Kenwright is adamant Everton supporters would still prefer he remain than risk a new owner who might pile more debt on the club.

"Maybe there's a downside to having a chairman who is a football fan," Kenwright said in a BBC interview. "We lose £4-5 million a year; that's a lot of money, that's a player to David Moyes.

"I think Evertonians would rather stay with me, with all my drawbacks, if they knew that a potential new owner would saddle the club with debt."

Everton fans are bewildered that rich owners have snubbed Goodison, while the likes of Manchester City reap dividends. The reason for that is the stadium, or lack of it, as Everton struggle with their ageing arena.

There were mixed fortunes for Everton's on loan players on Saturday.

Shane Duffy, Jose Baxter and Luke Garbutt were all in action in Leagues One and Two, recording the full range of results.

Left-back Garbutt made his first league start for Cheltenham and took just 39 minutes to set up Alan Bennett for the Robins' first goal in a 2-1 win over Dagenham and Redbridge.

Up in League One Jose Baxter was also in creative mood, setting up Tranmere's goal in their creditable 1-1 draw at high-flying Charlton.

But Shane Duffy and Scunthorpe were on the end of a shock home defeat to lowly Leyton Orient at Glanford Park.

Duffy himself had a couple of late efforts on goal but the Iron couldn't find an equaliser.
